guineapiggin9 Product Review---Doggles Feb 6, 2008 6:11 PM Hey all! I just found something great for those of you who have dogs with bulgy eyes or dogs that are highly active outdoors...doggles! They are basically what they sound like: goggles for dogs. They were recommended by my vet for Angus because he now only has one good eye and since he's a pug he's prone to eye injury. I ordered a pair and they were well worth it. They are so cute, very well made, and totally functional. And they come in tons of cute color combos. They also come in two different types: the ILS (which is what Angus has) that have interchangeable lenses and are made more for protection and the K9 Optix which are still protective but made a little more for fashion purposes. When we first got them, it did take Angus a bit of time to get used to them, but now he wears them without a fuss when we go for walks (and boy does he turn heads!!). I would strongly recommend these and I jsut wanted to give you guys a heads-up on them! Angus sporting his classy black doggles. Here's a link to their website...Check it out!: http://doggles.com/eyewear.html
guineapiggin9 HELP!!! Jan 19, 2008 12:11 PM I need some help!! I know it's probably nothing, but as a first time doggy mommy, I'm just not sure. A little while ago I went in the kitchen to find Angus with something in his mouth. I pulled it out and it was half a chicken bone. Apparently, someone went to throw away their chicken wings and one of the bones missed the hole. I know it was a whole bone and he swallowed the other half. The edge didn't appear too sharp, but I'm still worried. Also, I'd like to avoid the vet if possible. We've had him in there quite a bit lately for some eye troubles he's been having. If it comes to that, of course I'll take him, but I'd like to avoid the extra expense. Any advice?? Has this happened to any of you before? Any advice will be MUCH appreciated!! Thanks! **UPDATE** Thank you all for the helpful comments. I read up some more on the topic and found that it's not as bad as I made it out to be. So, I continued to watch Angus and make sure that he was doing everything normal and there was no blood coming out whne he went potty. All seemed well. Then about a week and a half after the incident, we were out playing in the snow and he started coughing. I ran over and reached him just as he hocked up a slimy chicken bone along with the contents of his lunch (sorry for the grossness). I was so relieved to know that I didn't have to be on edge about that dumb chicken bone hurting him anymore! He is now just as good as he's ever been, but we're a lot more careful about our chicken bones ;).
guineapiggin9 Scratching problem? Check these out! Jan 12, 2008 10:18 AM Why does this cat have pink toes? Read on to find out!! I was recently searching around the internet and found these. They're called SoftPaws nail caps. They make them for dogs and cats to help with the problems of scratching etc. What they basically are is just a sort of cap thing that you slip over your pet's nails with the provided glue. One kit costs about $18.95 (plus S&H), includes 40 nail caps and glue, and the caps stay on the animal's nail for about 4-6 weeks depending on the activity level of your pet. They also come in an assortment of sizes and colors. I think they sound great and would be willing to try them if I ever have a problem with Angus scratching up the hardwood or if I got a cat, but didn't want it declawed. Check out the websites for both and tell me what you think! For dogs: http://www.softpaws.net/ For cats: http://www.softpaws.com/index.html
